- an area in central Alberta which
boast one of the nations top regions for #1 spring wheat production.
Key AgVentures opened in 1981 as a fertilizer and chemical retail outlet with particular
focus on controversial trends such as reduced tillage, precision fertilizer placement
(banding), and the introduction of the air seeder. Harv Schimke, owner and manager
added several air seeders to his equipment fleet and soon found it necessary to
expand into air seeder sales to meet the demand of those wanting to both seed and
band their fertilizer.
Prior to Harv's move to Red Deer he grain farmed and in 1977 was the first farmer
in Alberta to purchase an air seeder. Two years later he was asked to join the sales
force for Prasco air seeders in Winnipeg, MB. His travels throughout the U.S. and
Canada as Sales Manager have provided the background to his ability in developing
and building products for the agriculture and air seeder industry.
The fertilizer business was sold in 1994 as more emphasis was now focused on seed
boot development and air seeder sales. Farm Land's long term commitment is to helping
their customers be the best producers possible by passing on the expertise of over
20 years experience in the air seeding industry.
Farm Land boots and technology have been used by most major equipment manufacturers
because of their field proven results. A strong dealership network is in place throughout
western Canada and the U.S. As air seeder markets continue to open in South America,
Australia and Europe, Farm Land products are accepted as standard openers because
of their reliability.
